Shakespeare is quoted as having said: “If music be the food of love, play on.”
Art lovers would probably say, “If art be the food of love, paint on.”
A visit to the Barbados Arts Council at Pelican Village, Princess Alice Highway, St Michael, presents you with an array of exotic paintings in all sizes; paintings which depict the varied landscape of life in the Caribbean.
Visitors will probably view the work of each artist as creative, brilliant masterpieces and some pieces hanging from the walls of this gallery set the mind thinking.
Among these are The Dancers by Margo Gunby and Black Belly Sheep by Ramond Maughan, a photograph which reminds us that black belly sheep are still an integral part of the Barbadian landscape. Other pieces include Houses At Martindale’s Road by Neville Legall, Green Monkeys by Glenroy Jordan and Sunset At Dusk by Paula Scott. These all arouse the imagination.
Since the works of a number of artists can be viewed at the Barbados Arts Council, that’s the perfect place to visit if you’re searching for a special centrepiece or simply adding to your art collection.
