MARA THOMPSOM of the Democratic Labour Party romped home to another impressive victory over Hudson Griffith of the Barbados Labour Party in yesterday’s General Elections following a similar result when she competed in a by election to replace her husband the late David Thompson.
She took the St.John constituency 4 025 votes to Griffith’s 1 091 after leading in all boxes.
Thompson  who attributed her victory to keeping in touch with her constituents and knocking on doors said she would be focussing on the youth and seniors and also looking to repair some roads during her upcoming tenure.
From as early as 7 p.m yesterday supporters of Thompson gathered around in the yard of the Lodge School and awaited the counting of the votes on the inside.
The votes accompanied by the various officials were transported by two Transport Board buses under tight police security.
Overall there were 5 116 votes cast with 27 spoilt. (JS)
