Mario Harte?is the 2012 Footballer of the Year.
Harte was rewarded at the scaled-down awards ceremony of the Barbados Football Association at the Wildey Astro Turf Facility on Sunday night.
He led the Barbados Defence Force Sports Programme to the FA?Knockout Cup title and second place in the Digicel Premier League, behind champions, Weymouth Wales.
For his prize, the BDF striker and team captain received a cellphone, a weekend for two at Golden Sands and a cheque for $1 250.
Wales’ midfielder Jabar Greene was named as Most?Valuable Player of the Premiership. He not only received $500 and a cellphone like the other footballers receiving positional awards from Digicel, but got a further $1 000 for his MVP award.
The individual awards and prize money were presented for the Premier League and the Knockout Cup. Â
