Fees probe

More than 70 patients were overcharged on the dispensing fees for their medicine by two pharmacies operated by the same individual.
The discovery was made after an audit by the Barbados Drug Service (BDS) as it stepped up operations to weed out irregularities in the system.
And a Ministry of Health source said this case might just be the tip of the iceberg.
The BDS has since given the pharmacy operator, Clarence Fergusson, an ultimatum – refund the patients or be cut off from the BDS.
The BDS views this matter so seriously that it has also written to the chairman of the Pharmacy Council for further action.
