At age 113, James Sisnett has a huge progeny and wherever they live around the globe, they are in Barbados every birthday to celebrate with the man they all call “Grandad”.
There was no mistaking his joy at seeing them all at Brown Sugar Restaurant on his birthday on February 22. The “birthday boy’s” eyes lit up every time he recognized another member of his family visiting from overseas and he continuously called their names as he caught sight of them and pointed them out to his daughter Everine sitting beside him.
If love can be considered a factor in Sisnett’s longevity, its infusion from four generations of family, on his birthday, might yet sustain him for more years to come. There are quite a few doctors in the family going through the generations and they were all there to celebrate with “Grandad”.
Between the hugs and kisses, the supercentenarian sat in his wheelchair, a broad smile envelloping his face from time to time as he looked around the room, taking in the many happy faces around him, as he clutched a red rose presented to him by Andrea Urlass.
Social Scene captured the warm spirit of family on the occasion.
