Opposition Leader Mia Mottley maintains Barbados’ economy must be “put back on a growth path” but she believes at this stage Government should be “allowed” to put forward their own fiscal programme due to be presented to Parliament shortly.
Her comments came shortly after being sworn in with other Opposition MPs at Government House earlier today.
Remarking on her elevation by the Barbados Labour Party (BLP) to the position of Opposition Leader, Mottley said “I am humbled that my colleagues have given me the confidence to move forward. Barbados is at a very difficult time and how we move forward is going to determine what kind of future our children as a whole will have.” (GC)
