When I heard the announcement by the Government Information Service that no motorcycles or bicycles are allowed on the recently built overpass between the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) and the Parkinson Memorial Secondary School, I said to myself, “Is that for real?”
Since we are living in a very civilized society – I hope – I did not expect such an announcement because people today are more educated than our foreparents were and should be able to reason.
As a people, we should know what is right from what is wrong. But that does not seem to be the case these days.
Too many adults are behaving like little children and must be treated so and told what to do.
This is a very sad state we have found ourselves in.
That overpass was built for a reason: to protect the pedestrians who use that area from the danger of vehicles travelling along the highway. Many drivers just do not care and we have to save them from themselves.
I do not see why we should have to police that area in order to have the right thing done.
Come on. Let us use common sense and do what is right; for in doing so we will be looking after the interest of our citizens. That is not difficult.
