Fan-tastic time for patrons

Barbados’ Soca queen Alison Hinds and Trinidad’s wining queen Denise Saucy Wow Belfon both brought electrifying performances to Kensington Oval last Saturday night during the Soca Xplosion show which saw thousands attending.
They were the only two female performers in the line-up of more than one dozen artistes.
From start to finish, the Brewsters Road And 7Star Entertainment production, which included a mixture of local and Trinidadian acts, went smoothly, proving that local shows can be executed without hiccups, something some of the other organizers may want to replicate.
Following performances from her countrymen in the first half of the show, a noticeably slimmer Alison took control of the stage minutes before midnight with a white rag in hand.
Dressed in a silver-grey corset top finished with rhinestones and silver trimmings, black leggings and a pair of knee-high black stilettos, the soca veteran whipped the obedient audience into a frenzy with her popular tunes.
Alison not only sang for fans, she also showed the audience she knew how to Brace And Wine and just how low she could go when she invited a man on stage to dance with her, much to the delight of screaming patrons.
From the moment Saucy Wow came on stage in the second half of the show, wearing black tights and blouse to match, she displayed her wining abilities while singing.
After whetting the appetite of expectant fans, Belfon, toying with the audience, walked toward the exit to leave but returned almost immediately when fans, eager to see the Hard Wuk singer perform, called her back.
She invited not one, but two men – at different intervals – on stage to dance with her.
The show, which lasted for six hours, finished promptly at 3 a.m. Sunday morning.
The other performers on the night included krosfyah, Rupee, Peter Ram, Grynner, Biggie Irie, RPB and Soka Kartel of Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago’s Superblue, Benjai, Blaxx and Iwer George, who performed with Roy Cape All Stars band. (MM)
