63-year-old dies in road fatality

Barbados has recorded another road fatality.
Michael Johnson, 63, of Westmoreland, St James died following a two-vehicle collision which occurred around 5:45 pm yesterday on Pleasant Hall Road, St Peter.
According to police reports, Johnson was the driver of a van, which was involved in a head on collision with another van driven by Troy Clarke, 37, of Ridge Road, St Joseph.
Clarke’s passengers, an 11-year-old and a-six-year old, were not injured.
“Johnson was trapped in his vehicle and was extricated by members of the Barbados Fire Service using the ‘jaws-of-life equipment’” stated the release from the police this morning.
It was reported that Johnson suffered a broken right foot and internal injuries. He was transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital by ambulance. 
He later died while undergoing treatment for his injuries.
Investigations are continuing.
