Water was yesterday described as an under-appreciated asset in the Caribbean, particularly among the public.
This observation was made by Adrian Cashman, senior lecturer and principal investigator at the University of the West Indies’ Centre for Resource Management and Environment Studies (CERMES) which is at the helm of a study to help inform action on water security in the face of climate change.
He said that it was important to ensure water was available in adequate amounts, accessible to the public, affordable for customers and individuals and also affordable for those who provide services to the public.
He stressed that the public in the region needed to be informed of their need to change their practices. (LK)
