CARIFTA Update – Day 2

Here are the highlights of Sunday morning’s session of the 2013 BTC CARIFTA Games at the Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium, Nassau:

Barbadian Akeem Marshall qualified second overall in the Under-17 boys’ 800 metres with 2:00.77. Jamaica’s Rayon Butler has the fastest time of 2:00.62.
Jerrad Mason clocked 1:55.79 and was third in his heat of the Under-20 boys’ 800m.
Defending champion Mark London of Trinidad and Tobago won his heat of the Under-20 boys’ 800 metres in 1:55.10
Jamaica swept the Under-17 boys’ shot put, Warren Barrett taking gold with 16.88 metres and Vashon McCarthy silver with 16.47.
Grenada’s Anderson Peters, who won gold in the javelin, was third with 15.53m.
Tristan Evelyn was third in her heat of the Under-17 girls’ 300m hurdles with a time of 44.97 seconds.
Allana Ince was second in her heat in 46.59 seconds and both are in the finals.
Shanice Love of Jamaica won the Under-17 girls’ discus with 40.16 metres. Silver went to Janell Fullerton with 39.91m and Shaiann Charles of Trinidad and Tobago was third with 39.19m. (SAT)
