Live mannequins, bunny pull crowds

PEOPLE STOPPED and stared in disbelief – and they took many pictures.
It happened on the ground floor of Cave Shepherd yesterday when the company again employed “live mannequins”, courtesy of stylist Anthony Jordan.
The “mannequins” were used to advertise Cave Shepherd’s new beach clothing line and the latest cosmetics line, called Black Up.
“We have a wide range of new clothing in the beach department: swim wear, lounge wear, casual wear, bags and shoes as part of our Easter in-store activities,” said Kim Tatem, the event planner for Duty Free Caribbean.
She said Cave Shepherd often used live mannequins as they were an “excellent” way to showcase products.
The company also had “buy two items, get one free” specials on the first floor and an appearance by the Easter Bunny, who gave candy to children and posed for pictures with both children and adults.
“The attention has been fantastic as usual, which is why we decided to do this on Saturday when people would be shopping,” said Tatem, adding there was an Easter bonnet parade yesterday conducted by staff.
As for the “mannequins”, some shoppers could hardly believe they were flesh and blood, except when Jordan “unfroze” them periodically. (CA)
