The dry season has taken its toll on the Barbados Water Authority (BWA).
The state-run corporation has been forced to commence the shutting off of pumping water in the wee hours of every morning as a result of extremely low reservoir levels.
From this week in mostly rural areas, pumping of water will be stopped between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. in an effort to keep levels up for adequate consumption during daylight hours.
According to BWA officials, the constant use of water to wash vehicles and wet gardens should cease immediately to protect the country’s most precious resource.The cash-strapped agency was bombarded with calls from angry Barbadians across the island yesterday, as a horrible combination of water outages and low water pressure that started from Good Friday and continued yesterday took their toll.by
