Barbados finished the 2013 CARIFTA Swimming Championships with 41 medals after collecting a further 13 on the final day of competition on Tuesday in Jamaica.
The final tally was made up of 20 gold, nine silvers and 12 bronze.
Previous gold medal winners were again on the medal podium on the last day when Barbados won seven events.
Among the boys, Luis Sebastian Weekes won the 11-12 division 100 metres breaststroke, Damon St Prix was the champion in the same age group in the 400 metres freestyle, Christian Selby took the honours in the 15-17 age group 400 metres freestyle and Jack Kirby won the 11-12 200 metres backstroke.
St Prix was champion in his age group.
In the girls’ competition, Hannah Gill won the 13-14 age group 400 metres freestyle and Sariyah Sherry took the 13- 14 50 metres freestyle.
Barbados’ final gold came through the girls’ 12-13 4×50 metre freestyle relay team of Sherry, Gill, Alexis Clarke and Tiffany Titus.
St Prix and Weekes also landed silver medals, the former in the 50 metres freestyle and the latter in the 200 metres backstroke.
St Prix, Weekes, Kirby and Kobi Talma teamed up to land second place in the 4×50 metre freestyle relay.
Barbados also claimed three bronze medals. They came from Alex Sobers in the 13-14 Boys’ 400 metres freestyle, Mckayla Treasure in the Girls’ 11-12 200 metres backstroke and Amara Gibbs in the Girls’ 15-17 200 metres backstroke. (HG)
