NEARLY 30 WORKERS will be displaced by this month-end when the businesses in which they work in the Warrens SuperCentre complex close.
The five outlets in the upstairs food court together with Harcourt Carter Optical, Pages Bookstore, Foster & Ince Cruiseworld and American Airlines in the supermarket itself have had their tenancy discontinued to make way for a megastore. That is, the supermarket together with the Warrens branch of DaCosta Mannings Inc. (DMI).
The move to incorporate DMI into the spaces vacated in the supermarket and food court will also see job losses there. The entire amalgamation process will be completed by September.
Neville Brewster, managing director of SuperCentre Limited, confirmed the imminent closures and the displacement of tenants. He admitted, too, that there would be job losses at DMI but said in the long term more people would find employment by the move.
