One-on-one

A High Court judge will today interview at least two Barbadian families which have placed their names on record to eventually take care of Cuban refugee Raul Garcia.
If all goes well, it will finally pave the way for Garcia to walk into Barbadian society as a free man.
Justice Margaret Reifer will hear from the families in the No. 9 Supreme Court at 9:30 a.m.
Two families, one an elderly couple from rural Barbados, who were the first people to open their home to Garcia, are expected to present themselves to the judge as persons of good repute who are also in a financial position to aid Garcia once he is released from the custody of this country’s Immigration Department.
The identities of the families have been kept secret because of the sensitivity of the case.
