There has been a reduction in rodents across Barbados but mosquito breeding remains a worry in areas of Christ Church and St Michael, a senior environmental officer official has said.
Maurice Gaskin, who is attached to the Vector Control Unit, said breeding areas of concern included Dayrells Road, Christ Church, and Deighton Road, Paddock Road, Garrison, Ivy and Grazettes, St Michael.
“In the last three weeks or so while the guys were in the ground working they have come across a lot of mosquito infestation . . . ,” he told journalists on the sidelines of a workshop for police officers at the Old National Insurance Building on Fairchild Street.
Gaskin explained that along with fogging, the unit was currently working in the affected areas to get residents to clear their premises of all potential breeding materials. (AH)
