A Barbadian living in Watertown, Massachusetts, a suburb of Boston, was just a few houses away from where marathon bombing suspect Dzhokar Tsarnaev was apprehended by police last Friday.
Psychologist Dr Charmain Jackman, who was born and raised in Barbados, has lived in Watertown for 12 years and in her current home with husband Jeff Lahens for four years.
Charmain Jackman is the daughter  of Cathy Jackman and retired CBC videographer, Dalton Jackman.
Here is her account of what took place.
“Monday seems so long ago. I was at home caring for our six-month-old daughter when I received a call from my husband at exactly 2:50 p.m. telling me that he was all right and he didn’t want me to worry. He said something happened in Boston and that people were running away from something. . . . Then he quickly hung up.
