FLYING FISH & COU COU: No plan to lose next time around

Two losing politicos from opposing camps are betting on achieving success the next time around in southern ridings.
The two signalled to their respective teams that they have no intention of quitting the elective game even though they suffered major losses last time out.
One reportedly put their defeat down to unappreciative constituents, while the other said he was targeted and unfairly portrayed in a light that sought to undermine his masculinity. So both are determined to prove they have what it takes to deliver for their teams, and themselves, resounding victories.
Already the man known for his physique has gotten into his stride in the riding he has identified. He is going around with known operatives putting out his feelers and maintains that the diminutive representative can be beaten.
Those in the know are saying that this individual at least has the time to devote to the constituency, given his sporadic employment status.
As for the other individual, that person has closed their constituency office in the heart of the riding and is looking to work with their present colleague to be introduced as his replacement as the demographics of this constituency fits well with their profile.
Out of his depth
Key people in a certain ministry are saying that their head honcho seems unhappy to be where he is. They are wondering if he acts like this because he feels out of his depth.
They are saying that even if these things are not so, the individual, in public, has a look that conveys the impression that he is enduring the work, rather than enjoying it.
These insiders are wondering if this explains why this person reportedly spends time on the golf course.
They are wondering too why the big boss put this person there when they were doing, by all accounts, an effective job in their old haunt.
Right now in that ministry the specialists are saying they miss their old boss because he was proactive and understood their concerns.
Case of the nerves
A recent report that forced a certain irrepressible character to eat humble pie is said to have made a man in Barbados very nervous. But it is not that the gentleman here has done anything wrong that those around him are concerned.
Rather, they are saying that as a man is judged by the friends he keeps, they are worried the stench from that person may touch their man and, inevitably, affect them.
This is even more so likely given that their man was tipped by the character at the centre of controversy to take over from him.
Insiders said that the concern is doubly so as the person who is familiar with the intricacies of the report is no friend of theirs, and with the present conflagration in a certain place, any distraction – however slight – could affect their longevity.
The insiders also note that a number of questions have been asked about certain unfinished projects during their man’s tenure. So they are hoping this development does not become some political football.
Not hallucinating
It would seem that Cou Cou was wrong in chastizing a certain man who is soaring in the clouds like an eagle this morning.
We had observed that this man had printed letterheads and so on with his new designation though it had not been officially conferred on him. But the goodly gentlemen explained that from the time one was informed of the elevation one could proceed to do such things.
