Show Me The Money could end a 15-month drought by taking race four – the Credit Note Handicap on the Barbados Turf Club’s tenth and final day of the first racing season tomorrow at the Garrison Savannah.
The Blue Diamond Racing colt will be tackling five other three-year-old and older horses rated 95-115 in a race which is also open to horses rated 94 and below over 1 800 metres.
He is fresh off a commendable second place behind Shared Adventure and may not be caught this time despite his weight of 120 pounds.
The race card, titled the 63rd Barbados Guineas Raceday, will see seven other races beginning at 1:30 p.m.
This could be the ideal field for Little Man Arran to show improvement against horses rated above 100 as he shoulders 122 pounds.
Stablemate Giovedi, who will be taking 130 pounds, will have to run out of his skin here for a victory.
One of the better races on the card is the Foyal Handicap for three-year-old and older horses rated 60-80 over 1 570 metres. The top weight will be carried by Stanton French’s Local Speed at 130 pounds; but with a five-pound claimer booked to ride, he will be a contender.
Rickoshey, with 125 pounds, will be seeking to make it three wins on the trot. He will also take advantage of an apprentice claim and is in with an excellent chance.
All eyes will be on the imported Powerman, who is still to win at the Savannah. He makes his first attempt after being gelded.
Indian Soul, who carries 112 pounds, has been in sublime form over the past five months. She does, however, step up in class where her ability against tougher company will be severely tested.
The lone 2 000 metres event on the card – the Candy Man Handicap for three-year-old and older horses rated 50-70 – has attracted a small field of six runners. The Mr Brain-owned filly Midnight Touch will go to post with the heavy impost of 130 pounds. She will relish the trip.
Just Jiving was a clever winner last time. He will drop 14 pounds for this event plus the extra distance will surely work in his favour. One can expect him to be around at the finish.
Proud Bajan, who will be carrying 110 pounds, should also give a good account.
Last race day’s final race required the judges to use the photo finish pictures to separate jockeys Rickey Walcott and Jarelle Beckles. It seems very possible that both jockeys, now on different horses, will renew that rivalry in race one, the Gadhafi Handicap over 1 100 metres.
Walcott rides the top weighted Seattle Sunshine, while Beckles will partner Miss Fandando. Both horses are coming into this race off nice wins.
Seattle Sunshine has enjoyed the lion’s share of success between them but a weight differential of 13 pounds could prove very significant.
Shared Decision, with 118 pounds, can also take advantage of this weight.
