The Barbados Labour Party (BLP) is willing to work with anyone who shares its ideals in its quest to be the answer for all Barbadians, leader Mia Mottley said yesterday.
She was speaking at a service in celebration of the party’s 75th anniversary at the Whitepark Wesleyan Holiness Church.
The Leader of the Opposition told the congregation that she did not believe it was necessary to blindly follow any one party in order to work with it.“We do not simply want to be the alternative – we must strive to be the answer to the needs and the dreams of all Barbadians,”?she said.
“We must be active, not just in our words, but in our good works, to ease the burdens in whatever way we can.
“We must labour with all who share our vision and our objectives for Barbados, even if they are not our members and supporters but believe in our cause – we must be the answer for them too.“When we do so we will remain relevant and ensure that our voice is never silenced and that our work is never silenced and that our work is fuelled by the simple and noble objective to allow all Barbadians to sleep easier and to dig deeper to fight the battles of our times.”
Mottley issued a call to action to her party, urging it to be the organization to which Barbadians would turn in the current troubled times. (CA)
