Barbados are Caribbean cricket kings once again. The most decorated team in the region extended their record number of first-class championships to 21 yesterday.
A highly one-sided WICB regional four-day final ended 28 minutes after lunch on the penultimate day after Barbados completed an emphatic victory by an innings and 22 runs over Trinidad and Tobago.
It was Barbados’ first first-class title since 2007, ending their longest streak without a four-day title.
The visitors, resuming the third day on 140 for four after they were faced with a first innings deficit of 279, were dismissed for 237 shortly after lunch.
Here, Barbados’ players and officials celebrating their success in winning the Headley-Weekes Trophy. Captain Kirk Edwards (back row, fourth left) helps to hold the trophy. Next to him is Sir Everton Weekes.
