A?penitent Peter St Mark, who is accused of assaulting Parkinson School principal Jeffrey Broomes last week, was remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison Dodds when he appeared in the District “A”?Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
The 35-year-old, of Haggatt Hall, St Michael, pleaded guilty to the charge that without lawful excuse, he damaged a pair of glasses worth $1 160 belonging to Broomes, but denied he unlawfully assaulted Broomes.
The offences allegedly occurred last Thursday.
Prosecutor Sergeant Ensley Grainger objected to bail on the grounds that the offences were serious and that St Mark had previous convictions.
“For a person to enter onto a compound of an institution and attack a principal is a very serious matter. We need to protect society from this type of behaviour,” Grainger said, adding that he believed if St Mark was granted bail, “there exists the strong likelihood of a repetition of these or more serious allegations being levelled against the accused”.
