PENTECOSTAL LEADERS in Barbados have come out strongly against same-sex marriage, with at least one saying he would be willing to die rather than perform such a ceremony.
Coming on the heels of the Anglican Diocese’s stand against same-sex unions and the redefinition of marriage bolstered by legislation in parts of the Commonwealth and North America, local church leaders sounded a loud “no” yesterday.
“No, sir! The biblical position is a heterosexual one from Genesis and is reiterated in the New Testament. A man is to love his wife, and through their union they should be able, for the most part, to reproduce and replenish the earth.
“We cannot, with any clear conscience, officiate at a wedding ceremony of persons of the same gender,” stated Reverend Orlando Seale, Superintendent of the Nazarene Church.
Hell No!
