Call for guard at all schools

The Barbados National Council of Parent Teachers’ Associations Inc (BNCPTA) wants one trained security guard in every school by September.
In making the call, president Rhonda Blackman told the SUNDAY?SUN this was necessary to stop, or at least reduce, the number of confrontations that take place daily at primary and secondary schools between disgruntled parents and teachers, or individuals who stray on to the properties and make themselves nuisances.
Noting that several schools had guard huts but no security guard, Blackman said: “We would like to have a trained guard in place in each school by the beginning of the new school year.”
She said not only should the schools have trained security personnel, but these individuals should clearly understand their role and responsibility.
