Seaside vows

The billowing waves off Silver Point Hotel in Silver Sands, Christ Church, yesterday provided the musical background for the wedding of Brazilian kite-surfers Julianna Paschoal and Rodrigo Sigueiredo.
The Sao Paulo couple said they were lured to Barbados by Brazilian friends who frequently come here to indulge in the popular sport at Silver Sands, where the sky is customarily dotted with large colourful kites powering the many surfboards mounted by visitors from all over the world.
Julianna said it did not take much persuasion to get married in Barbados, since her friends had often told her about the abundant sunshine, strong winds and great facilities which Barbados offered kite-surfers.
Another incentive she said, was the six-hour direct GOL flight between Sao Paulo and Barbados, which the Barbados Tourism Authority is facilitating. “It was quite easy to make the trip because of this flight, and it is good because it is direct,” Julianna told the WEEKEND NATION.
Witnessing the event were 40 other Brazilian kite-surfers who flew in with the couple for the wedding.
The beach ceremony was conducted by the Reverend Beverly Sealy-Knight. (GC)
