Rise in dengue cases

There has been a steep rise in the number of confirmed cases of dengue fever so far the year when compared to the corresponding period last year.
And according to the Ministry of Health, there was also one confirmed death of an adult last month resulting from dengue – the first such fatality for the year.
The ministry reported yesterday 297 confirmed cases compared to 100 for the same period in 2012. Overall, there were 431 confirmed cases in 2012.
Symptoms of dengue fever include sudden high fever, severe headaches, pain behind the eyes, muscle and joint pain. (BGIS)
