GOVERNMENT has been told to implement laws to govern the renewable energy sector as quickly as possible.
In addition, the Barbados Renewable Energy Association (BREA) has called for a quick “resolution” by the Fair Trading Commission (FTC) of its review of the Barbados Light & Power’s (BL&P) controversial Renewable Energy Rider (RER).
And one BREA member has termed the BL&P’s stance on storage of generated electricity as nothing but smoke and mirrors. In fact, chief innovation officer of Innogen Technologies Mark Hill predicted that storage would be “the next trend” within the renewable energy sector.
These were some of the points made by BREA members during a news conference yesterday at the office of the Barbados Coalition of Service Industries, Pine Plantation Road, St Michael.
