THE QUEEN Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) has been hit by major challenges resulting in “spiralling” health costs to Government over the years, says Minister of Health John Boyce.
However, he gave the assurance that Government would not reduce Barbadians’ access to essential medical care at the QEH or any other state-owned facility.
Boyce spoke about the challenges of an ageing population, non-communicable diseases and the world financial crisis during the opening of a one-day hospital showcase and information seminar at Hilton Barbados yesterday.
The function was organised by Sagicor Life Inc. under the title When Overseas Treatment Becomes Necessary: Finding the Best Quality and Most Affordable Care. (MM)
