THE STAGE is set for one of the biggest road races ever.
Reigning king Mario Forde will be facing his most gruelling challenge yet as he prepares to face a loaded star-studded field, inclusive of three former champs in Sunday’s National Road Race Championship on the ABC Highway route.
It’s hyped as one of the most eagerly-awaited title races, with the Barbados Olympic Association-sponsored event featuring almost all of local cycling’s biggest names for the first time in two years.
The only drawback will be the absence of overseas-based pro Darren Matthews who returned home last week but is hampered by a niggling knee injury.
