KINGSTON,Jamaica, June 20 – Dancehall entertainer David ‘Mavado’ Brooks was freed of an assault charge when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court today.
His attorney Peter Champagnie said charges were dismissed following mediation between the complainant and Mavado.
In June 2011, the entertainer and members of his crew were involved in an altercation with members of the police force at the entrance to the Quad nightclub in the business district of New Kingston. During the altercation, it’s alleged that the artiste punched one of policemen in the face.
The entertainer was then arrested and charged for assaulting an off-duty policeman. (CMC)
