Hymns, prayers, tributes and words of comfort were offered yesterday at a touching memorial service for Rashida Bascombe, whose grandfather was recently charged with her murder.
Rashida was 12 when she went missing 11 years ago.
The service was organized by her school, Parkinson Memorial, where family and friends assembled.
Her mother Hermena Straker was fairly composed during the service, but was overcome with grief when a special prayer was said for her.
Here, Straker (sitting) being prayed for by Dr Marlon Husbands, Bishop of Sanctuary Empowerment Centre (second from right), as Parkinson’s principal Jeff Broomes (right), Joan Williams of the Royal Barbados Police Force’s Victim Support Programme (left) and Straker’s family friend Markeith “Nancy” Dash (centre) look on in support.
