Residents from Cane Garden, St Thomas have filed an injunction demanding that the island’s main recycling facility be shut down for good.
In addition, they are claiming B’s Recycling Plant has been operating without official permission from the country’s Town Planning Department, and are also suing three different ministers of Government, as well as the Chief Town Planner.
More than a dozen of the residents, accompanied by their attorney-at-law, Sir Richard Cheltenham, filed the lawsuit and injunction earlier today at the Registration Department.
Sir Richard claimed a number of residents are still suffering from health issues after a fire which started at the facility on May 25 this year, and lasted for almost a week.
The residents were accompanied to court action by Member of Parliament, Cynthia Forde.
Forde also resides in the parish, near the controversial recycling facility. (BA)
