THE PLIGHT of small businesspeople was the focus yesterday as Opposition Leader Mia Motley visited the stalls outside the Fairchild Street bus terminal in The City.
It was part of the weekly Barbados Labour Party’s Rubbing Shoulders programme and showed how vendors were struggling to earn a living.
One man, Greg Spencer, said he felt lucky if he earned $50 a day.
“There is nothing to be around here for; half the time you come you are sitting around and nothing happening – you can sit down from morning to evening and nothing happens. If I hit $50, which is not even enough, it would be good,” he said. (CA)
