Barbados picked up five more medals on the final day of the Central American and Caribbean Swimming Championships in Costa Rica to end the competition in seventh place with 29 medals.
Damon St?Prix not only copped gold in the 11-12 Boys’ 100-metre freestyle; he also set a new national record in the event with a time of 58.08.
Zabrina Holder and Luis Sebastian Weekes also won gold medals in the Girls’ 15-17 50-metre butterfly and 11-12 Boys’ 200-metre individual medley, respectively.
Holder clocked 29.48 and Weekes was timed at 2:24.70, also a new national record.
Sariyah Sherry added a silver medal in the Girls’ 13-14 100-metre freestyle (1:00.35), and Weekes increased his tally by finishing third in the 50-metre butterfly in a national record time of 29.19.
Competing in the 11-12 boys’ division, Jack Kirby also wrote his name into the national record books in the 50-metre backstroke, finishing in a time of 31.30 to take the number of national records set at the meet to four. (RB)
