Government may be purchasing and refurbishing the Almond Beach Village, but it has no plan to get back in the hotel business.
This was made clear yesterday by Minister of Tourism Richard Sealy, who revealed the Democratic Labour Party administration had gone into business with the People’s Republic of China to earn financing for taking over the Almond project.
Sealy said the financing from its Asian partner could eventually reach $200 million.
“We had lost a lot of rooms with the closure of Almond,” Sealy revealed at a post-Cabinet Press conference held at Government Headquarters yesterday.
