DESPITE HAVING TO PLAY “CATCH-UP”,  Therese Branch is now the proud recipient  of a Barbados Scholarship.
The 18-year-old resident of Lowthers Hill, Christ Church, said she was guilty of slacking off but managed to get back on the right path.
“I kind of slacked off in the beginning; so I had  to play catch-up, but my teachers were always  there for me,” Branch said.
She achieved grade 1 results in economics unit I and II, management of business unit  I and II, accounting unit I and II, Caribbean studies and communication studies.
Branch attended Wilkie Cumberbatch Primary and Harrison College. She  is the daughter of Mondelle Branch  and Ian “Cupid” Gill.
“I am overjoyed; I wanted this for a really  long time. I feel life is now truly beginning,”  she said.
The elated Scholarship winner said she  was looking forward to going to England  to pursue a degree in economics and international relations at the University  of Exeter in Devon.
Her desire, she said, is to be a conflict analyst, perhaps working in the military.
She told those students seeking  a Scholarship to work hard and not  to slack off.
“Make sure you stay on top of the work  . . . . Get in as many past papers as you can  and start studying from early,” she said. (CA)
