‘Talk’ one to watch

Areyoutalkintome will be making his second career comeback today in the feature Barbados Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association Stakes And Trophy race, a grade three event at the Garrison Savannah.
If there is one question regarding his return in this race for Barbados-bred three-year-olds and older horses over 1 100 metres, it will be one of fitness. He has been back in training for quite some time and, based on his past, should easily dispose of this field on the Barbados Turf Club’s eighth day of this second season.
This phenom, with a record of 13 wins from 20 starts, won this event back in August 2010, and then returned to the track following a fatal collision that sidelined him for 14 months to win the 2012 grade one Sandy Lane Spa Sprint Stakes And Trophy.
Owned by Attie Joseph III and Saffie Joseph Jr, Areyoutalkintome followed his Spa Sprint success with another victory before finishing a commendable third in the one-off Amstel Cup over 2 000 metres where he subsequently broke down during the race.
This latest setback was a mere 13 months but trainer David Yearwood’s ability will hardly come under scrutiny since he made a winning comeback previously. Expect nothing less than a win.
Vitality is seen as one of the major contenders in this race, having won it last year. His current form has been reasonable at best and he will need to do much more for a repeat success.
These days getting to the lead seems to be like pulling teeth for Slip Stream. It would appear that she may be forced to settle for the minor ends of the purse as she will most likely arrive on the scene too late.
Golden Moment snapped a lean run of form with a comfortable win against far less quality opposition rated 52-75 in the United Insurance Regional Trophy Handicap over 1 100 metres, so this appears too massive an undertaking for her.
Erados opened 2013 in a blaze of glory with the Barbados Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association Garrison Turf Stakes And Trophy over 2 000 metres. Since then he has been steamrolled twice by Aristodemus and once by the now retired Purr Class. If you obliterate the principal Areyoutalkintome, he must figure and could wake up at a nice price.
Lune De Barachois returns from a well deserved rest. Fortunately, she will be required to come with her running shoes on as there will be no waiting when the gates fly. At her best she will run her heart out as usual.
Alina, despite having defeated the imported three-year-olds and finishing second to new speed queen Seattle Sunshine, seems outclassed; plus she runs best when carrying light weight.
