The Guild of Students at the University of the West Indies (UWI), Cave Hill Campus, will “do whatever it takes” to try to get Government to reverse its decision on Barbadians paying tuition fees from September 2014.
The guild executive, led by president Damani Parris, met with the student body yesterday evening at the campus to come up with ways in which to gather a wide range of support for their stand.
In his Budget last Tuesday, Minister of Finance Christopher Sinckler announced the Government planned to stop paying tuition fees of local university students in a move to save $42 million a year.
The Government will continue to pay the full economic costs. (MM)
