Worme to try out at US college

JASON WORME  HAS BIG plans  of becoming a professional footballer.
The 17-year-old has taken his first step towards achieving that goal, having been invited to trials at John Brown University, Arkansas.
In an interview with SUNSPORT, he revealed he would be leaving the island on Wednesday  for a one-week stint.
Worme, a central midfielder who plays for Pro Shottas, said that during the club’s trip to Arkansas to play in the Continental Cup last month, he was approached by the assistant coach at John Brown University, David Castagne, who offered him the opportunity to come  and train with the team.
This came after he had been named the  Most Outstanding Player during the  Under-19 competition.
Worme has also travelled to Dominica, Dallas and Cleveland on football tours.
“I am a bit nervous, to tell you the truth, but I am also quite excited,”  he said.
“But I will be putting my best foot forward, and I am hoping to impress the coach, who also happened to be a past member of the Pro Shottas team as well.
“I know it will be  a learning experience, but I will try to learn as much from the people around me as I can, and hopefully everything will work out,” Worme added.
He said that once he impresses at the one-week stint, there was a possibility that he  would be able  to secure a scholarship.
Worme, who is studying electrical engineering at the Barbados Community College, knows that this is a good opportunity to take his footballing talents to the next level.
“I want to play in either a semi-professional or professional football league,”?he said. “This is  a perfect opportunity for me to take the step to the next level, and I intend  to make the most of it.”
