Slap in face

The showdown between the Guild of Students of the University of the West Indies (UWI) Cave Hill Campus and the Government over the decision to have Barbadians pay their own tuition fees  from September 2014 is continuing.
A spokesperson within the guild said they felt disrespected by the no-show of Democratic Labour Party (DLP) representatives for their town hall meeting on Thursday.
The source, who requested anonymity, said they did not receive a letter from the Prime Minister and other DLP representatives that they would not be able  to attend despite having received formal invitations.
However, they did receive a letter written on behalf of Minister of Education Ronald Jones on the day of the meeting. President of the guild, Damani Parris, confirmed he received that letter by fax as well as by email.
