Clash of body titans

Regal Ramona?Morgan is still the queen of women’s body fitness in this country and sassy Saskia Griffith the darling of bikini competition.
Morgan and Griffith reigned supreme in contrasting style at the ALLMAX?National Bodybuilding and Fitness Championships at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre Saturday night.
There were just three entrants in the women’s body fitness contest and the experienced and shapely Morgan representing the J?&?S?Health, Fitness &?Sport Academy was the cream of the competition.
It was much tougher for the attractive Griffith, competing on behalf of the champion Strike Force Gym, based on Stadium Road. Griffith, 27, traded some of her fullness for the lean look, and appeared to have dieted to the extreme.
“My emphasis is clearly on the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Championships. I am much tighter with CAC in mind, that is what the regional judges are looking for,” she said.
Griffith was pushed all the way in the class for those 163 centimetres and over by gym mates Melissa Burrowes and Shaakira Doughlin. Burrowes, 26, a personal trainer at the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB)?gym, would have been satisfied with her second place finish.
In the taller class of the bikini competition, elegant Natalie Webb was a commanding winner and led a sweep of the top three spots by Strike Force Gym. Kara Lynn Belle was second and Nikisha Wiltshire third.
Antoinette Downie of Valley Fitness Zone, as expected, prevailed in the women’s body fitness tall class.
Downie’s shape and well toned physique helped her defeat a field that included Kim Sealy of Surfside Fitness Centre. Sealy brought style and charm and was an impressive second on debut.
Powerful Strike Force Gym were also dominant in the junior bikini fitness contest for those 23 years and under. Jalisa Matthews was champion of this class with Anke Griffith second.
Among the junior bodybuilders, Shaquille Lavine and Jeffrey Gay had an absorbing duel that could have gone either way. Gay was bigger and wider but the judges went for Lavine’s better balance and sharper muscles.
