Man of the people!

AS HE PREPARES for “a new beginning” in Canada, former Government Minister Haynesley Benn has told Democratic Labour Party (DLP) members not to let their support for the Dems slacken off.
During an emotional farewell  to members and supporters of the  St Peter constituency branch last Sunday, Benn said: “I am trusting God that the numbers that were  built in this branch while I was here [do not change and] as soon as I am gone the numbers gone down.”
Benn, a former DLP St Peter candidate recently appointed Consul General in Toronto, Canada, told the packed All saints Vocational Training Centre it had taken “a lot of effort”  to get the party and branch “where we are today” and every effort should be made to keep the momentum.
“. . . Whoever comes to replace Benn [should] maintain that level  of commitment and sincerity and  this parish needs somebody that has the interest of the people in St Peter,” he added.  (RL)
