Two hundred employees are being let go from the telecommunications company, LIME at the end of September.
A statement issued today by the Cable & Wireless owned company which goes under the LIME brand throughout the Caribbean said the lay offs will come following an agreement between itself and Erkicsson.
The layoffs will come mainly from LIME’s service support and delivery and associated customer support teams.
LIME said it had entered into an exclusive management service agreement “in an effort to restructure its operations”. It comes into effect on October 1, 2013.
Chief financial officer and commercial director Patrick Hinkson said the decision was “in an effort to reduce the cost of running our network. LIME remains committed to enhancing customer experience across our range of services and this decision best fits that goal. We felt it was strategically important to team up with a global leader in the industry and it is from this perspective that we agreed to go with Ericsson as a partner”. (MM/PR)
