Heavy showers caused by tropical wave interaction

The heavy showers and thunderstorms experienced in Barbados today are the result of a tropical wave interacting with the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone.
A bulletin released by the Barbados Meteorological Office this evening stated that these systems were also affecting some of the other islands of the eastern Caribbean.
“The axis of the wave is due to move across Barbados within the next 18 to 24 hours during which time outbreaks of moderate to heavy showers and scattered thunderstorms will continue to spread across the island. Wind-speeds across the region continue to be very light and this will contribute to an element of localized activity tomorrow” it added.
Met officials cautioned that some flash flooding was possible and urged residents to take all necessary precautions and remain on the alert. (CM/PR)
