Embrace change!

MINISTER of Labour Dr Esther Byer Suckoo has admonished the Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU), among other groups, to accept and be part of change for the good of the country.
But that organization’s boss has made it clear that respect and principles cannot be sacrificed even in the midst of change.
The two spoke yesterday at the opening of the BWU’s 72nd annual delegates’ conference at Solidarity House, where the union’s general secretary Sir Roy Trotman also called for a public apology for “a slur” on his character in correspondence from the Ministry of Labour to the International Labour Organization (ILO).
It was in declaring the conference open that Byer Suckoo said Barbados was at a crossroads where change – economic and otherwise – and co-operation were necessary.
