Jones: Teachers in place to return

The “financial rigidities” that have affected a number of Government departments have not filtered down to teachers.
In giving the assurance that school was ready to start with a “bang” next week, Minister of Education Ronald Jones said yesterday that “teachers are in place”.
“We have not had any knowledge of any teachers not being placed. In fact, we’ve put in a few new teachers for those who’ve retired and things like that . . . to ensure that education as a whole will not see any fallout from the financial rigidities . . . to bring our fiscal gap closer.
“But we continue to monitor over this week and at the commencement of the first week of students [being] back in place . . . . to ensure all is well with our little people and that they are well satisfied,” he said. (YB)
