THE NUMBER OF cannabis plants seized this year has already surpassed the number seized in 2012 and the Royal Barbados Police Force is alarmed.
In a telephone interview yesterday, public relations officer Inspector David Welch said they were noticing increasing ingenuity from people growing the illegal drug.
“The force is quite concerned by what we see as the increase in the cultivation of cannabis plants in the island; one of the reasons may be due to our interdicting efforts on our borders.
“What we have encountered are cannabis plants growing in gullies, in large plots, in backyards and homes and even in plant pots with sizes ranging from seedlings to 20 feet.
