ROSEAU – Fast bowler Rayad Emrit claimed a five-wicket haul to upstage an entertaining half century from Andre Fletcher to bowl Trinidad and Tobago to a narrow five-run victory over the Windward?Islands in the first of a two-match Twenty20 series at the Windsor Park Stadium on Friday.
Fletcher’s 87 came off 53 balls and included eight sixes and four fours as the Windwards reached 148 in 20 overs.
His knock was the mainstay of the innings and he shared a 63-run partnership with Ray Casimir. But when he was removed by Nicholas Pooran it was the start of the demise of the Windwards.
Emrit was the best Trinidad and Tobago bowler with figures of five for 16 off four overs.
Earlier, Trinidad and Tobago reached 152 for five, thanks to Evin Lewis (44), Jason Mohammed (39) and Denesh Ramdin (33).
The teams were to meet last night in the final match of the series which is being used as part of Trinidad and Tobago’s preparations for the Champions League T20 in India which starts on September 17. (CMC)
