Historic FCCA first for Bajan students

Two Barbadian students created history when their essays copped the top prizes at the regional level of the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) Poster and Essay Competitions.
For the first time, Barbados captured first place in the junior and senior divisions of the regional level of the FCCA competition.
The winning essays focused on the theme What Makes My Destination Different From Others? They were written by 16-year-old Yannic Boyce, a sixth former at Harrison College who won while she was a student at Combermere, and 12-year-old Azizi Alleyne of The St Michael School.
The two, who also placed first in the local divisions of the essay competition, will receive a cash prize of US$3 000 and a similar amount for their respective schools and will accept their prizes at the FCCA Caribbean Conference slated to take place in Cartagena, Colombia, from Monday, September 30, to Friday, October 4.
